It's the dead minutes. The export that says 14 minutes and takes 26, the backup still copying, the client who hasn't replied yet. You watch the progress bar crawl, you open Instagram, and by the time you come back you've lost the thread of what you were doing.
fo-CU sits in your hand instead of your phone. Two pieces sliding over each other on neodymium magnets, with the crisp snap you feel in your fingertips. Different surfaces on the two faces: one smooth for gliding, one textured for gripping. The wood version—filament infused with wood fibers—makes the sensation feel more natural to the touch. You turn it, snap it, and stay where you are.
The name means “fire” in Calabrian. The one you keep burning at the end of the day, when the project is still open and your mind already wants to be somewhere else.
It was created at BledoForma, my 3D printing studio: magnets embedded during printing with a pause halfway through the piece, printed in small batches and tested one by one before shipping.
